The Social Media Environment
Influencing others is a large part of what I do with social media. People say that social media shouldn’t be used for selling. When you communicate with your customers, that is vital. Social media and radio and television commercials are pretty much the same. Sometimes those commercials are boring.
What I find interesting is that you have to make a distinction between interacting with your clients and selling. The best sales people in the world all interact with their clients in someway shape or form. They give out valuable information and something that is useful. Most people have problems and the interaction can lead to solutions.
Where people make the mistake in using social media is when you begin to shout buy, buy, buy my product without giving away information. They will turn on you very quickly if you do that. I don’t understand why certain people do this, but it is a very bad habit you’re getting yourself into.
Social media is a wonderful tool that can be used to enhance your selling. It can highly influence people to go one way or the next. You don’t want to scream at people, interrupt them, spam them and stuff like that. Using stuff like I just mentioned will have your customers turning on you quickly.
When I first launch a product, I go through things step by step. I will tweet and use the other forms of social media to put out a message. Then I turn around and put that information on my blog. When people start to contact you, this is where you see where the interest lies.
I mix it up when I talk to my customers. I create videos in a certain way. They have different programs out there that will let you know which ones of your videos did well in the market. If they visit the URL that I put in my video, this is how I can also tell how well I am doing.
All of the activity that I do is very targeted. I will tweet just a certain way; I put new content on my blog that is good and I talk to lots of people though social media. It all works really well. I do pre-teleseminars. All the things I do has its set place in my business plan.
When individuals contact me, I reply back to them. You’d be surprised at the conversations that you can have with others. This let’s me know if I am interesting or not. I always make a suggestion to have them tell their friends about me. What it boils down to is this; social media is a great tool if you use it the right way.
